On my first trip to China I was introduced to the concept of Chinglish. This is where Chinese meets English in a hybrid that you can only sometimes recognise.
While I was in China this year, I saw some rather puzzling English translations that I just had to take pictures of. Now that I am home I wish I’d captured more examples because they really make me smile.
I’m certainly not judging, I can’t say more than five words in Chinese. But these curious T-shirts and signs still made me chuckle.
It also makes me wonder, what exactly is written on the clothing we buy in Western countries with Chinese graphics on them. Or worse, what does that “Chinese tattoo of an ancient Buddhist quote” really say?
