Week 19: Flooring and Unflooring

I took a week off work and I’m going back with bruises instead of a tan.

But 7 loooong days means major progress (at the possible expense of my sanity).

The kitchen has doors, the hob turns on (I can’t test it until I buy a pot) and there’s an oven in place.

Dad’s been on a mission in the bathroom and there’s skirting boards, a beautiful sink and unit all completed.

Ive been flooring for so many hours, the clicking noise is in my dreams. It’s also destroyed my back, knuckles and knees and left mum with a swollen knee 10x it’s normal size.

I reached breaking point when the almost finished floor needed dismantled again because it was so uneven it’s like walking across Edinburgh’s 7 hills to get to the kitchen. [It’s still not great, so if anyone knows magic tricks to fix it, holla at me]

I got a sofa! And yes I did want to scream “pivot!” as mum and I fought it up those stairs. I even went shopping for some cushions and a throw.

I’m almost glad to be going back to work to recover, but so happy with how much we got done with all the time this week. Thanks again to everyone who helped me out.
